Mortgage On Personal Property

Unemployable – Felony?
Back in 1995, I did a very stupid thing. I destroyed some personal property of my exhusband. As a result, I have a felony on my record. I spent no jail time, but was made to pay restitution and 1 year probation and now it is ruining my life. No one wants to hire me. I have been always honest about my record, but it does not pay. I just found out two years ago that this was felony on my record and have written the appropriate agency to see if I could have this removed. I wrote them two years ago and they have not gotten to my file. But in the meantime I can not get a job, I am behind in my bills, Mortgage, electric and everything else. I just don’t know what to do anymore. I feel like just calling it quitz. Is there any hope for me? This is something that happened 13 years ago and I am paying for it over and over again. Not murder, not esponage, not rape, not forgery, not embezzlement, not robbery, not stealing. Why is this haunting me so much? I really need some help.
You need to get this expunged. Felonies, regardless of what they are for, stay on your record forever. Expungement is done through an attorney that specializes in it. There are certain requirements, depending on your state law, that will allow for expungement. It is worth checking into, but use an attorney. Don’t try it without one.
