I am the branch manager and one of the original founders of Access Mortgage and Financial in CA. It is kind of a funny story how I came about getting into the mortgage industry. In January of 2003 I was looking to purchase one of my initial properties, and I got tied up with a very sub par loan officer who didn't really know, or for that matter care, what was best for me. By the end of March 2003 I found myself as a loan officer with a passion for making sure I could help as many people as possible avoid the process, turmoil, and expense that I had to go through to purchase one of my first properties. Then through a turn of events and past partners I became affiliated with Access Mortgage and Financial, opened a branch office here in San Mateo, and away we went. We are the only CA Branch although there are 49 branches total across the nation. Our branch has been in operation for over four years now, and being one of the youngest branches, we surprised a lot of people by being in the Top 5 a number of times—which is a credit to how we do business; as well as testiment to our clientele's belief, support and satisfaction in our system and ethics. Before coming into the mortgage industry my passion was basketball, and I played in college at the University of Hawaii, then professionally with the LA Lakers and the majority of my career internationally in Europe and Asia. I am originally from South San Francisco, CA. Many of my family and friends are still in the Bay Area and is one of the main reasons why I returned here, after receiving the blessing to see a large part of the World. Hello, my name is Roman Rivera, and I am the Senior Manager here at Access Mortgage and Financial. I am a San Francisco Bay Area native, enjoyed growing up in a large family, playing team sports, and living in an area so full of great cultural diversity.
As a young man, basketball became an intense passion for me. More than just a fun sport, I learned the values of discipline, training, and perfecting the skills I needed to be a valuable member of a team. The lessons I learned in basketball proved invaluable not only in my personal life and college, but also in my finance career years later.
Chaminade University Of Honolulu was my college of choice, where I majored in behavioral science, minored in business, and where I also received a full scholarship for basketball. After receiving college basketball success, I was awarded a contract to play professional basketball internationally. Although it was not the NBA that I dreamt of as a youth, I will always be grateful for privilege to travel overseas, and enjoy the variety of cultures.
Since then, I returned to the San Francisco Bay Area, where I create winning mortgage and financial strategies for customers at Access Mortgage and Financial, and also serve at a local nondenominational Christian church. My passion now is to share my finance and real estate expertise. I look forward to serving you with honesty and integrity, and helping you secure a new home or property investment. Thank you.
